IPL 2019: MCC backtracks on support of Ashwin over ‘mankading’ Butller

Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) has backtracked on its verdict of the infamous 'mankade' controversy. On Tuesday, MCC issued a verdict regarding Ashwin ‘mankading’ Jos buttler saying that the “mankade rule is essential”.On Wednesday, MCC’s manager of the Laws Fraser Stewart told British media in the UAE that they had now reviewed their original statement of Ashwin ‘mankading' Rajhasthan player Jos Butller and came to a conclusion that, the pause taken by Ashwin was too long before delivering the ball. He intentionally waited for Butller to move from crease and took the bails which is not in the spirit of game, Stewart said.Buttler could have reasonably expected for the ball to be delivered and it is unfair and against the spirit of game for non strikers to leave the ground too early, he added.MCC made a statement on Tuesday that although this incident was particularly contentious, the law is essential."Without it, non-strikers could back up at liberty, several yards down the pitch and a law is needed to prevent such actions in future," it said. On Monday after the 'mankade’ controversy  took place the cricket fraternity was divided and criticized Ashwin’s decision of mankading England’s batsman Jos Buttler.Buttler had scored 68 off 42 balls with 10 fours and two sixes at that time which was an outstanding performance by him before he was ‘mankaded’ by Ashwin.
